Memories of Zanzibar was opened in 2000 by a brother and sister who were born in Zanzibar,
but studied and lived abroad until they returned to start this treasure-trove souvenir store situated along Zanzibar jewelleryKenyatta Road
opposite the Post Office. The shop has a pleasant atmosphere and stocks an extensive selection of quality items under one roof at reasonable prices, situated within walking distance of major
Stone Town Hotels such as the Serena, Tembo and Dhow Palace.
There are many local crafts, exclusive garments, spices, books and fabrics.
You can also find the largest selection of African music in town here.

One-Way has its own branded leisure-wear made from cool cottons. Situated opposite the Old Post Office,
it has a wide and colourful collection of original designs made specially for the Zanzibar climate and atmosphere.

Here you will find an extensive range of T-Shirts, Kikoy-Wear, Polo-Shirts, Caps, Safari-Wear, Shirts, Trousers and Baby Items in exciting African motifs. All One-Way products are 100% cotton and are available for both men and women from the age of 3 months. There are over 200 different print and embroidery designs making One-Way the biggest T-Shirts and Leisure-wear brand in East Africa. The shop’s exciting design combines unique metal work by the artist Kioko Mwitiki with the play of colors that define One-Way T-Shirts and famous Kikoy Wear in the setting of an early 20th century Arab building. Zanzibar Gallery is situated in Shangani in Mercury House, the former home of singer Freddie Mercury,
on the corner of Gizenga Street and Kenyatta Road, near the Post Office. This beautifully preserved and
ecorated shop boatst the most comprehensive range of books in Zanzibar, providing guidebooks,
wildlife guides, coffee table volumes and the best of contemporary and historical fiction from Europe,
America and the whole of Africa. The CD collection focuses on the best of Swahili music traditions such
as Taarab.
Alongside the books are high quality, authentic artworks, sulptures, antiques, fabrics and textiles from
Zanzibar and mainland Africa. A full range of cosmetics and toiletries made from Zanzibar's natural
ingredients are stored in chunky glass bottles and accompanied by perfume oils, spices and flavoured teas.
Zanzibar Gallery has antique silver jewellery, glass trade beads, cool cotton tops and ethnic dreses,
as well as brightly printed cotton t-shirts, children's clothes and swimwear.
